It was a former trademark for the development and publication of video games, utilities and educational games, created in 1984 by Bertrand Brocard and Gilles Bertin. The company mainly published software on Amstrad CPC, Oric and TO7.

Cobra soft was differentiated by the edition of the Murder series games where, in addition to the game support, there were real clues that could be used when they were in the game.

The brand was owned by ARG Informatique, a leisure computing company created in 1983 by Gilles Bertin and Bertrand Brocard. The latter was previously a printer within the ARG company (Atelier de Réalisation Graphique) that he had created; Gilles Bertin worked on the first microprocessors (6502, Zilog Z80) and the first microcomputers (Apple 2) within Creusot-Loire, a company later integrated into Framatome. They published their first videogames within ARG informatique before creating the CobraSoft label in 1984.

The ARG Informatique company, not dissolved but without activity, was automatically canceled by INSEE on October 31, 1991.
