Coda Software entered into a license agreement with Qualsoft, which enabled Coda to produce a PCW version of World of Soccer and distribute in England, as an expanding range of sports strategy games. No fancy graphics - this is a football management simulation and it was presented as a possible alternative for those who are tired of playing Match Day II.

Coda included a range of English sports, particularly cricket, or American sports, depending on the feedback he received from football matches. Due to the way American football became popular in the UK, this was very encouraging.

For too long, the range of software available for the Amstrad PCW has reflected its image as a small business machine, and the range of high quality entertainment software has been extremely limited. That's why Coda Software responded to the lack of high-quality entertainment software available for PCW with the release of "Sports Strategy", an expanding range of software that tests your skills to the limit, not just in one go. , but over and over again, providing an ongoing challenge that we think is quite unique in today's software world of the time. The "sports strategy" represented a milestone in software with excellent value for money and was an international management of the ultimate challenge in football.

Many have found success at club level only to melt under the spotlight of the international field. Build a team of players balanced enough to beat the best in both the European Championship and World Cup and you've got a chance.

International management is the ultimate challenge in football. Building a team of players who can surpass Brazil's ball-playing skills, Holland's fluid play, West Germany's organization and Italy's counter-attack demands a vision of the game rare among coaches, let alone fans. .

Do you exploit the weaknesses of a team or take advantage of your own strengths? Do you attack down the flank with wingers or pierce the center with a powerful midfield run? Do you play a flat butt four or do you use a sweeper? In "World of Soccer", players are not simply defined as attackers, defenders or midfielders, but as goal poachers, playmakers, ball winners, wingers, left, right and central backs, sweepers (19 types of players in total).

You can choose to manage any of the 33 European teams. The four UK countries come with 16-man squads already defined, and can be increased to 36 with your own players of your choice. A customization program allows you to create your own teams for any of the 33 countries in the game.

Guide your squad through a four-year period spanning the qualifying and final stages of both the European Championship and the World Cup itself, culminating in it. Use friendly matches to develop your strategy and learn to match players in the way you have at your disposal. Success is assured, but you will have to make your teams win.

Balancing a team is tricky: you need to take into account good wing, air and ground skills, ball winning and goal scoring skills of each player, etc. And of course luck plays a role.

The game is very easy to play and very addictive. You can save the current state of the campaign to disk and pick up where you left off later.

However, there are some drawbacks. Scoring can get silly (England 5, Romania 6 was a bit lame) and you often find your requests to make a tactic.

It is quite tedious to have to wait so long for the results of all the other matches to appear.
